The Peace Litter

The Peace Litter theme came about after the stud dog owner, Ann Haller called to say that their breeding went well at her home, in PA. Ann reported that the dogs were outside in her yard with the wind chimes musically chiming while her yard waterfall made a peaceful trickling sound. Ann said with her voice filled with happiness, “how tranquil it was”. This litter was conceived in a peace hence came the Peace Theme!

China was such a lovely girl. She was as sweet as and resembled her Mother, Ashley. China, however, was a bit more energetic (thanks to her Father Cosmo’s influence). This was China’s first litter and what a big one it was with 11 healthy puppies. China lovingly cared for each of her puppies.

China died from cancer when her puppies were 16 months old. She is greatly missed. However, I am able to see glimpses of China every now and then in her children.

China was such a “good” 1st time “mother” to her litter

Ribbon color by birth order:

COOPER: TLC’s Peaceful Cooper: Loved by Julia Fosson and Sharon Ritchey, Avon,CT Cooper is recognized for his natural “smile” just like his littermate, Tara. He is very enthusiastic and also lives with his little liver sister Maggie, whom he loves. Julia writes on Cooper's 5th birthday: "It is hard to put in words how we feel about Cooper. He is the most affectionate and loving dog we have ever had. He is so silly and yet a big chicken, he is sometimes afraid of our 10 pound cat, bikes and motorcycles. He loves everything about Maggie the other FCR. Cooper is a big ham and smiles at everyone. He is also the most gentle giant with his big paws. He is nearly 90 pounds and in great shape still maintaining the triangle. He can gently tap you with his paws as though it was a soft touch of a human. He make us so happy."

HARRY: TLC’s Peaceful Harry: Owned by Dale & Heather Anderson, Stamford, CT. Harry’s Dad flew his private plane into NY to take Harry and Lucy back to their very excited families on Christmas Eve. Update at 5 years old: "Harry is the same super sweet, people loving, high energy puppy he was at 8 weeks old. He spends his days doing his favorite thing...Frisbee!!!! At least two hours a day are spent catching and retrieving frisbees...the only thing better than frisbees is frisbees in the pool!!! We'll be opening up the pool this coming week, making Harry one happy dog. As high energy as he is in the day, he is equally as snuggly at night. He's a wonderful dog, and we all feel very fortunate to have him as part of our family!!! Thank you for making that possible."

CHLOE: TLC’s Peaceful Chloe: Owned and loved by her second family Christine & Marcus Lovett, Carmel, NY. Chloe lives with an active family of children and various animals including horses. Chloe's update: "We're having such a great time with Chloe. She loves to fetch and wags her tail constantly. She tries REALLY hard to discern who might welcome her kisses, but she wants to hug and smooch everyone she sees. She has me very well trained with one little look to come outside (again), 'please please please just one more round of frisbee!' I love to watch her fly, she's so sleek, speedy and agile. When we're finished with playtime and walks, she's snuggly, but needs her extra leg room, I think she's 9 feet long sometimes. She loves her 3 cats and they've gotten used to how big yet gentle she is.

VISHNU: TLC's Peace of Eleven: “Vishnu” - meaning: ever peaceful, never sleeps. (shhhhhhh!) Vishnu is Dearly Loved by Lisa & David Sogg, Pittsburg, PA. His owners say that he is world's greatest dog! Sharing that he is very endearing when his one ear that flips back at times. Health is perfect, coat shiny and smooth. Vishnu has gone to puppy class and obedience classes where he learned the basics fairly quickly and fairly well. He loves to swim along with his all time favorite thing to do . . . going to the park. His greatest passions in life, in order, are: balls, small children, running free (called "crazy puppy"), and tormenting the cat. Toys are fun, too, as is going in the car, but food is pretty far down on his list. Vishnu’s other love is rolling on steeply sloping lawns, so he can roll down them. At 2 years old: His Mom Lisa says, "He's a very happy guy. He loves to sing along with me when I practice the bassoon." At 5 years old: "Vishnu continues to be the sweetest (and goofiest) creature we know. And, wejust got him a cat, which is just the greatest fun."

LUCY: TLC’s Peace Joy and Happiness: Loved and Adored by John and Julie Manchester, MA Julie states that “Lucy is just as lovey-dovey as she was when she arrived. She does not suffer from any lack of attention.” Lucy lives with her FC sister Nellie as they enjoy many of John and Julie’s outdoor activities (skiing, hiking camping and swimming). Julie often refers to Lucy with loving words (i.e., Dear Lucy, Sweet Pea). At 2 years old, Julie, Lucy's Mom writes: "Just love this photo of our dear, mischievousness, lovable Lucy! Lucy's favorite past time lately have been jumping up onto the kitchen table and eating John's pot roast sandwich, that was wrapped in foil and just left alone for a short time. Yum, said Lucy. Two days ago, Lucy brought home a 8"pumpkin from the neighbor's front door step, of course with the little stem all chewed up. I graciously returned the pumpkin back home again, hoping not to give Lucy away..So you can see, she keeps us laughing! It would have been a priceless photo, if I could only have seen her dragging that 3 LB pumpkin from across the way." At 5 years old: "Greetings from Julie's Loveable, Kissable Lucy! Notice Lucy's heart collar, "I Love Lucy"!! :). The tilt to her head from her little brain assault. She's as cute as ever and is doing great! Lucy's doing wonderfully. What a great rebound she has made. Back to chasing squirrels with vengeance. Not yet caught one, thankfully but sure is fast!"

ZEKE: TLC’s Peaceful Zeke: Best Buddy of Robert Jackson, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./now Asheville, NC. Zeke has proven to be a real joy. Bob reports that “Zeke is doing well, full of energy and enthusiasm for life. Zeke attends doggy day care. He is a wiz over the agility course in our local dog park! He swims almost every day and is doing well with his obedience training.” Zeke is now becoming a hiker . . . and enjoying it while visiting their second home in Asheville, NC. Update at 5 years old: "Zeke and his family have moved full time to Asheville, NC .. It is wonderful…..Zeke is in heaven. We do lots of hiking & backpacking and he gets his daily swim in the neighbor’s pond! Recently Bob added a puppy (Huck) since the house / yard is very dog friendly and we also wanted the puppy to grow up being influenced by Zeke since there could not be a better mentor."

COAL: TLC’s Melnyk’s Peace of Coal: Owned by Jane Melnyk, Williamsville, NY Coal lives with an active family with children. Jane is presently competing in obedience and conformation with Coal. Recently Coal won Winners Dog in PA and was handled by Jane Melnyk. Coal is pointed and working on his Championship. He also loves agility and is doing rally with Jane, his Mom.

GEHRIG: TLC’s Peaceful Gehrig: Owned by Sean Hardy, Mt. Arlington, NJ.

STERLING: TLC’s Peaces of Sterling CGC: Owned by Jen and Jeff Pavillard, Gap, PA. Sterling earned his Canine Good Citizenship (CGC) Award. Sterling does other activities too including bouncing, swimming, and school (agility & flyball). Jen claims that she has no desire to do competitions. Jen reports that Sterling is wonderful around kids as he is gentle, kind, and interactive. Sterling’s favorite toys seems to be his interactive ones. Though, his all time favorite activity still seems to be picking on his sister, Obsidian. Sterling stands 24 3/4 inches at the shoulder, his back is 24 inches long, and his tail is 17 inches long, all helping him to take "extra" space on the bed. At 2 years old, Sterling's owners write: "Sterling is wonderful and a blessing in all of our lives. A fall vacation for the family includes a place for the dogs to swim. Sterling was requested to participate in “Responsible Dog Ownership Day” with an obedience demonstrations for basic obedience, “clicks and tricks” (where he received much applause), agility, and “meet the breeds”. He doesn’t mind all of the attention. Jen says "we’ve been training in agility, which he loves to do, most nights. The see saw is his nemesis." 5th birthday update: "5 years - wow, I can't believe it has been that long. I remember so clearly the day he came to join our family. Sterling is still very active at school, doing demonstrations for agility, tricks, obedience, and more recently flyball. He loves to play! I'm not a big fan of competition, so we don't compete in agility. But in order for the team to play flyball, Sterling needed to compete with the team - and admittedly, we have a ball when we do (literally and figuratively)! We are in the process of purchasing a vacation home in NY with its own dog pond for constant doggie swimming. The home will be ideal for the retrievers in the family, pond, easy maintenance floor, and acres for leaping through fields. Sterling and Obsidian are very close and he likes to hang with his big sister. Maybe next year, a new family member will join us for Sterling to be a big brother to.

TARA: TLC’s Peace on Earth CD: Dearly loved by John and Donna Wagner, Corning, NY. Her owners describe Tara as “a clown batting us with her front paw; she is very affectionate and she and Katie (our other FC) are best friends. They seem to have a language of their own. Her retriever instinct is fairly strong - the best thing is that she knows to wait and mark the location of the dummy before she goes. Tara loves the water. While on runs with John - she helps pull him on the uphills. We don't really have a funny story because she keeps us laughing all the time. Many people have commented on her smile!” At 2 years old: Tara is pointed and working on her Championship with Donna. She earned her CD with John. She loves to go on runs with John and opportunities to swim. The Wagners wrote on Tara's 5th birthday: "Tara has had a busy 2 years.. She has earned both of her majors and only has 3 points to go to earn her Championship with John. She has had 2 litters of puppies. The Rainbow litter was born March 14, 2008 – 3 boys & 3 girls. We co-own the top male with our daughter. Otto is pointed in conformation and has earned his CGC and TDI. Becky has done all of his training. The Summer litter was born June 25, 2009, this time there were 5 boys and 5 girls. Both litters were sired by Sue’s liver boy Suede. We still have 1 puppy with us, Jet, and it looks like he is staying. One little boy, Huck, went to NC to live with Tara’s brother Zeke, and Sunny went to live with her Grandpa Blue and cousin Skye. When she isn’t pregnant or taking care of babies Tara still enjoys running with John and our other 2 Flat-Coats – Katie and Emma. All 3 love to go to Keuka Lake to our camper and won’t leave us alone until we take them for a swim! She is a great mother and still keeps all the kids in line!"

ROSE: TLC’s Classic Pc Of China Rose: Rose's name encompasses her grandmother’s and mother’s name as she too embodies many of their endearing qualities. Rose is Co-Owned by Cheryl Zielen-Ersing & Sue Van Buren. Rose now resides with Cheryl in W. Falls, NY. As Rose was going to stay with Sue until Cheryl babysat Rose while Sue was out of town. It didn’t take long before little “Rosie-Posie” had won the hearts of their whole family. Rose was such a good cuddlier as a pup & Sue would miss her sweet loving ways however, Sue’s busy school schedule Sue knew that Rose would get much more attention with Zielen-Ersing family. Rose lives with 2 Labrador Retrievers and keeps them in both line! At 2 years old: Rose had a difficult time gaining weight in the beginning. Now she is doing well on the raw diet. Rose will soon start showing in conformation shows again. Rose may be delicate but she can put her 2 big Labrador brothers in their places.
